| SKIING & AULI |
| The panoramic Garhwal hills of Uttaranchal with its snow capped slopes are ideal for skiing. The thrill of skiing over snow-covered terrains remains unparalleled. Such a place is Auli in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttaranchal offering exciting skiing opportunities to both, the beginner as well as the advanced skier. Snow capped slopes of Auli specially 3 km long slope (2519m-3049m) flanked by tall stately Deodar forests cut the wind velocity to the minimum. Auli offers a 180 0 panoramic view of Himalayan peaks like the Nanda Devi, Kamet, Mana Parvat & Dunagiri. It is a spectacular sight to see the sun rising over the high snow peaks –quite early in the morning.
The ideal time to be at Auli is from January to March. |
| YAMUNOTRI |
| The shrine of Yamunotri source of river Yamuna is the westernmost shrine in the Garhwal Himalayas, perched atop a flank of BandarPoonch Peak (3615 m). The actual source, a frozen lake of ice and glacier (Champasar Glacier) located on the Kalind Mountain at the height of 4421 m above sea level.
The temple of Yamuna is on the left bank Yamuna.The deity is made of black marble. Close to the temple are hot water springs gushing out from the mountain cavities. From Rishikesh,a 215 km journey by
road takes one to Hanumanchatti. From here it is a 13 km trek or 5 km trek from Jankichatti.The trek can be covered on foot or on ponies.Palaquins & porters are also available on hire. |
GANGOTRI

| The picturesque pilgrimage in the hinterlands of the Himalayas is the most sacred spot where Ganga, the stream of life, touched earth for the first time.
The Shrine of Gangotri situated at on elevation of 3200 m above sea level amidst captivating surroundings, along the right bank of Bhagirathi is 100 km from Uttarkashi. The temple was constructed in the early 18th century.
Every year hundred thousands of pilgrims throng the sacred shrine
between May & October. The temple is an exquisite 20ft. high structure made of white granite. The natural rock Shivling submerged in the river, is an amazing sight reinforcing the power of the divine. |
| KEDARNATH |
| Kedarnath is the seat of Lord Shiva. It is one of the twelve “Jyotirilingas” of Lord Shiva. Lying aat an attitude of 3584 m on the head of river Mandakini, the shrine of Kedarnath is amongst the holiest pilgrimage for the Hindus.
An imposing sight, standing in the middle of a wide plateau surrounded by lofty snow covered peaks. The present temple, built in 8th century AD. It is constructed on a rectangular platform and built of extremely large & evenly cut grey slabs of stone. The
exquisitely architectured temple is considered to be more than 1000 years old. The temple has a Garba Griha (inner sanctum where the idol is actually located) and a Mandap (area apt for assembly of pilgrims & visitors). In the center of Garbha Griha there is a conical rock formation, encircled by a narrow pradakshina path, which is worshipped as Lord Shiva in his Sadashiva form. |
| GAUMUKH |
| The Gangotri Glacier, which is situated at the height of 4255 m above sea level, is nearly 24 km is length and 6-8 km in width. It starts from beyond the Chaukhamba cluster of snow peaks, in the neighborhood of Badrinath & extends as far as Gaumukh. Almost 16 km northeast of Gangotri, Gaumukh is generally accepted as the physical source of holy River.
Several pilgrims trek upto the source to offer prayers either on foot or on ponies. The verdant valleys, dense forests and towering peaks offer excellent trekking and mountaineering opportunities. |
| BADRINATH |
| On the right bank of river Alaknanda lies the sacred perched at an altitude of 3133 m above sea level, guarded on either side by the two mountain peak Nar & Narain with the towering Neelkanth peak providing a splendid back-drop.
Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple is built in the form of a cone with a small cupola of a gilt bull & spire.
A flight of steps takes pilgrims to the main gate & then into the temple.
The complex has 15 idols. Especially attractive is the one metre high image of Badrinath, finely sculpted in black stone. It represents Lord Vishnu seated in a meditative pose. |
| JOSHIMATH |
| An important town enroute Sri Badrinathji has religious history, magnificent scenery, bracing climate & a hub of commercial center all one needs for a holiday or pilgrimage.
Amongst the many temples of Joshimath, the most famous are the Narsingh & Durga temples.
Joshimath is also the base for mountaineering expeditions. |
| RUDRAPRAYAG |
| Named after Lord Shiva (Rudra), Rudraprayag is situated at the holy confluence of Alaknanda & Mandakini rivers, at a distance of 34 km from Srinagar.
Rudraprayag is the point where the two roads branch off to the holy Shrines of Kedarnath (84 km) & Badrinath (159 km).

| Formed by the confluence of the impetuous Vishnu Ganga and the Dhauliganga river, Vishnu Prayag, 1372 m, has an ancient temple called Vishnu Kund.
