  Digha
The Southern-most part of West Bengal is endowed with some of the most famous beaches on the Eastern coast of India.The beach town of Digha is famous all over for flat, hard beaches. Digha beach is girdled with casuarina plantations along the coast which adds to the charms of Digha.It is a five hour drive from Calcutta and is connected with Kolkata by good roads.
 
  Mandarmoni
Mandarmoni , a virgin beach as yet, is a recent discovery. It is a twin beach of Digha, about 14 km from Chawlkhola. It offers nearly all the pleasures of a private beach. This beach too is girdled with casuarinas plantations. A major project for development of Mandarmoni as a high class beach resort is in the pipeline.
 
  Junput
Junput is 40 km. from Digha by bus, with a change at Contai. The place offers beautiful sea-view and lines of casuarina trees. The beach is unspoilt. Brackish water fish cultivation and research are done here by the State Government Fisheries Department.
 
  Shankarpur
Shankarpur , a virgin beach as yet, is a recent discovery. It is a twin beach of Digha, about 10 km to the east. It offers nearly all the pleasures of a private beach. This beach too is girdled with casuarinas plantations. A major project for development of Shankarpur as a high class beach resort is in the pipeline.
 
  Frazerganj and Bakkhali
Frazerganj and Bakkhali , the white sand twin beaches, are entirely different from the other beaches. They are pristine pure and hold the charms of a beach unspoilt. They can be accessed from Kolkata and are a four-hour's drive. The destination is also all too famous for migratory birds that can be sighted over there.
Ganga sagar
Ganga sagar , the culturally and religiously important destination, also has an exceptionally good beach for the tourists. Situated on an island on the confluence of River Ganga, it holds the charms of a completely unspoilt beach on the estuary of the mighty Ganga.It is a lovely destination combining pilgrimage and fun. Even where there is no sandy beach on the coastline, the view of the waves and of the fishermen struggling for the catch will be no less charming.
 
  HOW TO REACH
A number of bus services operated by both Govt.of West Bengal and private agencies connect Digha with Kolkata (about 180 km) and a number of places around Kolkata.One can reach Mecheda by local trains on Howrah-Kharaghpur route and take a bus for Digha therefore. Bakkhali and Frazerjang from Kolkata (about 130 km) are directly connected by regular bus services. It is easy to access Ganga Sagar Island from Kolkata by bus upto Kakdweep, by motorised launch/boats to cross the river and then again by bus/taxi from Kachuberia.

West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation run their tourist lodges at Diamond Harbour,Bakkhali,Ganga Sagar & Digha.Besides there are large number of Hotels & Lodges at these places,there are also number of Hotels & Shankarpur & Ganga Sagar Island.
